Dr. Paula Lissón

I’m a psycholinguist working in the Language and Methods lab at the University of Potsdam (currently on leave of absence), lead by Audrey Bürki. I use behavioral experiments and cognitive modeling to understand the cognitive mechanisms underlying the production of utterances in native and non-native speakers of German. I'm also a substitute lecturer at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). 

I received my PhD in Linguistics in May 2022 from the University of Potsdam (see my dissertation here). My supervisor was Shravan Vasishth. My PhD focused on developing cognitive models of sentence comprehension in aphasia, in the framework of cue-based retrieval. My PhD was funded through the project B02 of the SFB 1287 - Limits of Variability in Language.

Previously, I completed a MA in English Linguistics at Paris Diderot University (CLILLAC-ARP EA 3967 lab), and I was a visiting student at NYU Linguistics in 2017-2018. During this period, my research mainly focused on lexical and syntactic complexity in learners of English, and on crosslinguistic transfers in multilingual learners. I also worked on the statistical modeling of relativizer choices among French learners of English (under the supervision of Nicolas Ballier). I hold a BA in English and French from the ULPGC.
